Our Sunday worship is from The Book of Common Prayer. Common here means prayers said “in common,” or by everyone together. The Book of Common Prayer is a collection of ancient and modern prayers and services.
There are two slightly different services used in the Episcopal Church: Rite I and Rite II. Rite I uses the older form of English language found in the original Book of Common Prayer. Rite II uses more modern English. At St. Andrew’s, Rite II is celebrated at the Saturday service at 5:30 pm and the Sunday service at 10 am. Rite I is celebrated at the Sunday service at 8 am.
For people familiar with the Anglican Church, St. Andrew’s could probably be characterized as somewhat High Church, or, perhaps, Broad Church. We strive to be an inclusive church, accepting members with conservative and liberal theological views.
We celebrate the Eucharist at each of our Saturday and Sunday worship services. The Episcopal service includes prayers, reading of scripture, and Holy Communion. All baptized Christians are welcome, and encouraged, to take Communion at St. Andrew’s.
